    Alrighty, so you might be a complete marketing noob, and not know where to start (if so, you should look at this infographic and download the free 6-month PDF course). Inbound Marketing is the sh*t when it comes to online promotion; It’s authentic, based on content and real value, and makes believers out of your customers, in what you’re doing and then ultimately in what you’re selling.

    This is the NEW way. And the ONLY way, if you want to succeed in today’s online marketplace.

    The infographic below breaks down marketing into 6 sections, marketing the way it SHOULD be:

    1. Develop a marketing strategy: Define your goals, your ideal customer or “whale”, and what kind of ROI you are targeting.
    2. Create & maintain a powerful website: As the graphic says, “your website is the hub of of all your online marketing and lead generation”. It should do two things: have a clear message about what you do (the main portion of the site) and a blog that fills your visitors with bellyfulls of useful & free business content.
    3. Generate more traffic: More traffic to your site/blog means more eyeballs and chances for conversion (don’t forget that you need to optimize your site too). Check this stat: A blog gets you 55% more traffic. So, make it epic!
    4. Convert traffic to leads: This is where you use landing pages to help you focus and convert your traffic into leads by keeping their focus on a single objective.
    5. Convert leads into sales: Segment and nurture (keep them aware and warm) your leads until they reach that “aha!” moment that rings their conversion bell, turning them into a paying customer. This is most often done through email marketing.
    6. Measure everything: This is the hardest part, but if you set up your Key Performance Indicators in advance (like visitor to sign-up ratio or sign-up to paying ratio), then you have a starting point. then hook up an intelligent measurement system like KISSmetrics to help you produce campaign reports that will not only show you what’s working, but keep your boss happy and loving you.

    • I like the way it looks so simple; but it’s not haha.

      I think it’ been nailed right on the head with the marketing “expenses”. They are not expenses, they are an investment into growth, that money is coming back. And if it’s not, someone needs to look at their techniques!

      First of all, great infographic! Trafficking your website in my opinion is the integral procedure within internet marketing. This is why I believe that you should make sure that you learn as much information on trafficking as possible. A couple of years ago, I stumbled across a downloadable guide to trafficking, consisting of 30 different modules. This downloadable guide is called Complete Guide to Traffic and can be found at http://www.completeguidetotraffic.com. After going through each and every module of this guide, I can now say that there isn’t anything about trafficking that I don’t know! I totally recommend it to anybody, who are a little unsure with some of these online articles.

      Wow, great infographic! I also think that measuring inbound marketing activities is the best way to improve it. Personally i’m using ColibriTool to measure “traffic” (with goals/conversions) and “seo”.
